GstarCAD is an independent CAD program for creating technical drawings to scale with measurements and hatch patterns. The drawings can be set up in layers and the prints can be prepared via layouts and viewports. The software resembles AutoCAD in such a way, that there's no need for extra education for experienced AutoCAD drafters. GstarCAD reads and writes standard dwg en dxf files that can be read flawlessly by AutoCAD and virtually every other CAD program.
Both GstarCAD Standard and Professional support most of the older AutoCAD lisp routines and you can also do programming in VBA. The latter is nearly identical to AutoCAD's VBA, so it's easy to transfer existing programs to GstarCAD. IDEOMA can support you with transferring and testing of your self-made menus and routines from AutoCAD to GstarCAD or vice versa.
In the Professional edition you can use 3D functionality for complex surface and volume modelling (surfaces and solids). For creating perspectives we refer to SketchUp Pro.
